  • Upon arrival at Athens airport, you will be greeted by your experienced tour leader, who will chaperone you throughout the trip
  • Board a deluxe bus for transfer to your hotel located in the heart of Athens
  • Take some time to relax and freshen up; the tour leader may suggest nearby sites to explore
  • Attend a reception welcoming you to Greece
  • Enjoy dinner served at the hotel, with a nice glass of wine included
  • Rest up for a full day of activities tomorrow!

Tour of Athens & the Acropolis

  • Begin a panoramic bus tour of Athens with the direction of an expert local guide
  • Arrive at the Acropolis, the majestic centerpiece of Athens
  • Explore The Parthenon, the temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena, as well as the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the sacred temple of Erechtheion
  • View the Dionysus Theater at the base of the Acropolis
  • Enjoy lunch and some free time in the afternoon
  • Celebrate tonight with a festive Greek dinner show, featuring wine and song!

  • Enjoy free time this morning to shop and explore the nearby sites around our centrally located hotel
  • After lunch, board the coach for an excursion to Cape Sounio
  • Take a guided tour of the Temple of Poseidon, enjoying breathtaking views of the Mediterranean from this temple dedicated to the Greek god of the seas
  • View the ruins of another Greek temple dedicated to the goddess Athena
  • Enjoy a seafood dinner at a coastal seaside tavern before returning to our hotel in Athens

Ferry Cruise from Athens to Santorini

  • Depart from the Athens hotel and transfer to the Port of Piraeus (have your bags packed and ready)
  • Board a comfortable, high-speed ferry boat (hydrofoil) for a cruise to Santorini, one of the many Greek islands in the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas
  • Transfer from the port of Santorini to your seaside resort hotel
  • Enjoy some free time at the beach or shopping at local stores
  • Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant within walking distance of the hotel

  • Santorini ("Thera" in Greek) is the largest of five volcanic islands in the Santorini Caldera archipelago
  • Today, explore two of the other islands in the caldera
  • Return to Santorini for dinner at the hotel

  • Spend the morning on the beach, enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine (remember sunscreen and sunglasses)
  • In the afternoon, tour typical Santorini villages and view the vineyards thriving in the rich volcanic soil and dry climate, ideal for grape growing
  • Sample fine Santorini wines during the vineyard tour
  • Dinner tonight at a local restaurant
  • Enjoy the beautiful sunset and prepare your luggage for the next day's journey: a cruise to the island of Crete

Cruise to Heraklion, Transfer to Elounda

  • After breakfast, head to the port of Santorini to board a high-speed ferry to the Greek island of Crete
  • Crete is the largest island in Greece and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily, Sardinia, Cyprus, and Corsica)
  • Enjoy a two-hour cruise to Crete, arriving early enough to check into your seaside resort hotel in Elounda/Aghios Nikolaos
  • Spend plenty of free time getting acquainted with the local surroundings
  • Dinner tonight is included at the hotel

Heraklion, Knossos and Minoan Palace

Wednesday May 14, 2025

  • Board the bus for Heraklion to visit the Minoan Palace at Knossos
  • The palace's initial construction dates back to about 2000 B.C., making it the oldest active Bronze Age archaeological site
  • Neolithic inhabitants are estimated to have settled the region as far back as 7,000 B.C., leading to Knossos being informally called Europe's oldest city
  • Return to the hotel for dinner, served with a glass of wine

  • Take a short boat ride from the hotel to the historic island of Spinalonga
  • The island features a fortification built by the Venetians in the late 16th century for protection against Turkish enemies
  • After a long history of warfare, the fort was converted into one of the last leper colonies in the early 20th century
  • Spinalonga is now uninhabited and has become a popular destination for tourists and historians
  • The island is currently under consideration by UNESCO for World Heritage Site status
  • Return to the hotel for dinner
