Your Spiritual Guide Father Jim

The Rev. James P Jaeger was ordained 32 years ago on May 17, 1986 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester, N.Y. He has served the Diocese in various places such as Irondequoit, Greece, Hornell, Palmyra-Macedon, Marion and currently Bath and Hammondsport. He also is a retired Reserve Chaplain from the U.S. Air Force and Niagara Falls National Guard. He is presently the Parish Priest at St. John Vianney Parish in Steuben County and is a part time staff Chaplain at the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital. The reason he is the spiritual guide for this pilgrimage is that he has many colleagues from the military, friends, parishioners and parochial peers who have encouraged him to lead them on a trip to Italy. For several months, Father Jim has been working with Wherever Tours in New Jersey to custom design the tour. The company is operated by David Shick, originally from Hornell. David has been designing European tours for the last 20 years for organizations such as the Knights of Columbus. His business partner Riccardo Filaci (from Sorrento, Italy) is a certified tour director for the last 30 years. In fact, they will both be with our group throughout the journey. Father Jim will be celebrating Mass most days, usually in one of the Churches we visit. This is Father’s third trip to Rome and Italy. He has chosen many sites and shrines that he has not visited in the past. But for those who are going for the first time, fear not. We will visit many of the usual places such as the Patriarchal Churches of Rome as well as other shrines and sites that aren’t part of the usual itineraries. Veteran travelers and first timers will all find this a unique trip, full of hidden treasures. Fr. Jim loves red wine and good Italian food and he wants to share his table with those who accompany him. Savor the unique cuisine (and vino) along with parties and entertainment. Come join us and meet the wonderful people of Italy. View in awe, the splendors of magnificent shrines and relics. Immerse yourself in the timeless land that is Italy. Our souls will be transformed, and our spirits renewed by the experiences we’ll share together. And, oh yeah, the trip is going to be tons of fun.
